Local volunteers will be heading to areas hardest hit by Hurricane Michael to help rebuilding homes destroyed by the storm.

Six volunteers with the group SBP, formerly known as the St. Bernard Project, hit the road Monday. They plan to help clean and gut homes with major flood damage, treat buildings for mold and work towards rebuilding.

The group also is planning on training other people in the affected areas on how to rebuild.

Since Hurricane Katrina, the group has rebuilt homes for hundreds of families following natural disasters.
