New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell won't be facing criminal prosecution over what had been her alleged misuse of city-issued credit cards while she was a City Council member.

The Louisiana Attorney General's Office announced Wednesday that the decision was the result of a "fair, neutral and thorough investigation" of the matter.

It came after a report issued last month by the Legislative Auditor's Office that found Cantrell's spending was not significantly different from that of other council members.
