A local man is headed to prison for at least a few years after receiving a 25-year sentence yesterday for a deadly drunk-driving motorcycle accident in New Orleans two years ago.

An Orleans Parish judge says Matthew Magrini will have to serve at least five years of his sentence without the possibility of parole.

His blood-alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit when his Harley Fat Boy struck a curb near Xavier University and hit a light pole leading to the death of his passenger, George Paitich, a second-grade charter school teacher.

Both men wound up in a canal, Magrini since recovering from serious injuries he received.
