It's still uncertain if Democratic Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards will be challenged in his re-election bid next year by Republican U.S. Senator John Kennedy.

The Monroe Star reports that Kennedy appears to be leaning in that direction and plans to announce his plans by December 1st.

He says while he loves his current post in the Senate, he says it's hard to stomach what he sees happening in Louisiana right now, including the lowest projected private sector job growth in the nation.

A SurveyUSA poll he commissioned shows Kennedy favored 48 percent to 39 percent in a runoff with Edwards.
