Dozens Of N.O. Bridges Suffering From Significant Deterioration

Reports show 88 state and locally maintained bridges in the New Orleans area are suffering from significant deterioration of the bridge's major components.

TRIP, a national non-profit transportation research group, says that equates to about 12% of the bridges in Jefferson and Orleans parishes.

Those bridges carry somewhere around 1,000,000 vehicles each day. The most heavily traveled bride on the list is the High Rise Bridge, which needed over $52 million in repairs in 2016.

Although they are structurally deficient, they do not post any immediate threat.
