Probe Finds Entergy Chief Encouraged Hiring Of Paid Actors

The black eye suffered by Entergy New Orleans after it came to light that paid actors were hired to support its request for a new power plant is worsening.

An independent investigation commissioned by City Council has resulted in a 62-page report that states the company's then-CEO, Charles Rice, knew first-hand of the move and encouraged that even more actors be hired.

The City Council approved the plant on a six-to-one vote.  Members are to be briefed on the report tomorrow afternoon.

WVUE/FOX 8 reports:

After this report aired, Entergy sent the following statement regarding the report:

“We received a copy of the report. Upon initial review, we take exception to certain characterizations and omission of key facts from the report, including specific evidence Entergy provided that confirms it did not pay, nor did it authorize any other person or entity to pay, individuals to attend or speak at Council meetings.”
