United Cajun Navy Offers To Protect State's Synagogues

The Baton Rouge-based nonprofit United Cajun Navy is offering to provide protection to a number of synagogues in Louisiana.

The group is best known for its volunteer efforts rescuing flood victims from hurricanes and other storms.

But, this time around it's offering to stage unarmed volunteers during services at several Jewish congregations in Baton Rouge, Lafayette and several in the New Orleans area.

The decision by the group follows Saturday's massacre at a synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, by a self-proclaimed anti-Semite.
