Damage from violent weather that hit areas of the state Thursday morning is still being assessed and two twisters are being confirmed to have hit a couple of parishes north of New Orleans.

The National Weather Service says the EF-2 rated tornadoes both touched down in Washington Parish with winds estimated in the ballpark of 115-miles-per-hour.

At least two people in a mobile home were injured in Bogalusa, while a roof collapse at a home about a mile from there trapped and injured a woman.

Near Baton Rouge, repairs are underway after the violent line of storms moved quickly through the Capital Region overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning.

The high winds and heavy rain damaged small planes at the Baton Rouge airport, while downing trees, knocking out electricity to thousands and damaging structures elsewhere.
