The Lowe's on Read Blvd. in New Orleans East will be closing, the company announced Monday. The location is among 20 in the United States and 31 in Canada found to be "underperforming".
“While decisions that impact our associates are never easy, the store closures are a necessary step in our strategic reassessment as we focus on building a stronger business,” said Marvin R. Ellison, Lowe’s president and CEO. “We believe our people are the foundation of our business and essential to our future growth, and we are making every effort to transition impacted associates to nearby Lowe’s stores.”
Lowe's expects most stores will be closed by February, though some U.S. locations will close immediately. It was not clear whether or not the Read Blvd. location is among them.
According to a FAQ on the Lowe's website, store closing sales should begin by November 8.
