Classes were cancelled Monday at one Tangipahoa Parish school following threats on social media.

School officials decided it would be in the students' best interest not to hold classes at Hammond High Magnet School until they can confirm the campus is safe.

Principal Shelly Gaydos said she contacted the Tangipahoa Superintendent after learning about the threat, and they contacted law enforcement. They decided to send students home and notify parents about the threat.

A police investigation is currently underway.

An update from the school on social media said classes would be held Tuesday as normal, though there will be an increased law enforcement presence on campus.
