Freeze Warning In Effect Wednesday Night Into Thursday Morning

The south Louisiana cold snap is expected drag lows below freezing overnight, so the National Hurricane Center has issued a freeze warning starting at midnight Wednesday and lasting through Thursday morning.

The stubborn clouds that have hung over the area since the beginning of the week are expected to clear out, and with nothing to hold the heat in, temperatures should slip into the upper 20s to low 30s.

"Freezing temperatures are expected tonight, mainly north of the Interstate 10 and 12 corridor, west of Interstate 59 and River Parishes," said the National Weather Service. "In addition, wind chill values will be in the upper 20s for the entire area."

Sensitive vegetation should be protected. The temperatures are not expected to fall to a point where pipes should be an issue.
