Governor John Bel Edwards says he's against Mayor Cantrell's proposal to shift convention center funding to New Orleans infrastructure.
Cantrell wants to move hotel taxes collected in New Orleans away from tourism groups and towards upgrades within the failing Sewerage and Water Board.
Edwards says he isn't interested in taking money from the convention center, Superdome and hospitality groups, as they'll need the funding leading up to hosting the Super Bowl in 2024.
Edwards' opposition is the latest, and likely fatal, blow to the plan.
