State police suspect an elderly man was riding his motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he crashed late Friday night in Jefferson Parish and was killed.
Troopers say 72-year-old Robert Drake of River Ridge died after he 2008 Honda Goldwing failed to negotiate a curve on LA-48 entered a ditch and struck a culvert. Drake was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.
It's unknown if Drake was impaired, with the cause of the crash still under investigation.
