A longtime St. Tammany Parish fire official calls it quits after a firestorm of criticism for his posting of a racial slur on Facebook.
Sonny Schwing's comment using the N-word occurred alongside a video that was titled "woman tells child to steal woman's purse". The video shows an African-American woman and three young children standing beside a lady who is sitting at a table with her purse on the floor.
Schwing announced his resignation yesterday from the Fire District 12 Board of Commissioners stating he believes it will be best for all who are concerned if he moves on.
