In Plaquemines Parish, the Coast Guard and other agencies are working a crude oil spill in Rattlesnake Bayou near Port Sulphur, a well site that produces more than 5,400 gallons of crude per day.

As of last night, authorities hadn't been able to determine when the leak began or how much crude had found its way into the water.

Work began immediately on containing and cleaning up the spill when discovered yesterday. Efforts are underway to pinpoint the source of the leak and secure it.
