Community Group Demands City Action On Blight

Local New Orleans activist group A Community Voice is asking city leaders to attack the persistent issues with blight.

The group sent a Christmas wish list to leaders, asking the city to make a commitment before Christmas that overgrown grass on every lot would be cut. They're also pushing for a change to city ordinances so the city can keep up lots and properties that owners abandon.

Members say most of the blight that plagues the city remains from Hurricane Katrina and the following floods back in 2005.

They say they are demanding quick action and new, long-term solutions because they are tired of living next to blight.
