A just released report by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor's Office says the state could save more than $100 million a year on Medicaid expenditures.
The route to doing that is the eligibility of prospective recipients being checked through income tax records. New technology is now in place in the state's Health Department to accomplish that, according to the report.
Health Secretary Rebekah Gee says the system now in place is linked to nearly two dozen separate data sources that can be used to verify an individual's eligibility for Medicaid benefits.
