It's been two years since the average price of gasoline in December has been this low in the Pelican State, or nationwide for that matter.
That's the word from AAA, who notes the statewide average price of regular in Louisiana has dropped below $2.04 a gallon, among the top ten least expensive markets.
Drivers in the Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas can find a gallon of regular for around $1.80.

It was just a week ago that drivers were shelling out a nickel more for the fuel. A year ago, regular was averaging $2.23 a gallon, 19 cents higher than today.
