Governor John Bel Edwards is sounding confident about his re-election efforts this year.
As he campaigns for a second term, Edwards told the Press Club of Baton Rouge Monday he has goals of hiking the salaries of teachers by an average of $1,000 and boosting the minimum wage in the state.
Edwards say he's also in favor of legalizing sports betting in Louisiana so the state can keep its competitive edge over Mississippi.
