St. Peter Claver School is announcing it will be shutting the doors forever at the end of this school year.
A statement released by the superintendent of Catholic Schools says St. Peter Claver has seen a continuous drop in student enrollment and has been operating at a large budget deficit. The school has also been sanctioned by the Louisiana Department of Education due to low scores on standardized tests.
The Archdiocese of New Orleans said any students who receive a Louisiana Scholarship for Excellence will be able to transfer to the school of their choice, and all other students will be given special consideration if they register to enroll at another Catholic School.
