It's clear the state is taking notice of Louisiana's nearly 300,000 military veterans.
Governor John Bel Edwards and other leaders announced Wednesday a plan to have resource centers set up this fall on all 30 college and university campuses in the state to assist former members of the military.
The half-million-dollar a year project is called LaVetCorps, with Washington the only other state with a similar program. Among other things, the centers will offer veterans information on how to access state and federal benefits.
