Get your throwing arm ready.

Jefferson Parish officials have given a thumbs-up to an ordinance making it legal to throw Mardi Gras beads back at the end of most parades. They'll be collected by the Arc of Greater New Orleans that will have a truck following most Metairie parades, that will permit people to toss beads into the bed of the vehicle.

The beads will then be repackaged and resold through the center, providing work for people with developmental disabilities.
