Bourbon Street Murder Suspect A Career Criminal

Police are releasing more information about the suspect accused of killing one and injuring three others Sunday on Bourbon Street.

Court records show 37-year-old Louis Barnes had a long list of priors in both Orleans and Jefferson parishes, dating back to 1999 when he was just 17-years-old.

His first arrest was for battery of a teacher, but the charges were dropped. He then was arrested eleven more times between 2002 and 2018, going back to prison five times between 2004 and 2015.

He's now facing his most serious charges of both second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.
