It's an effort that's expected to repeat itself over the next few weeks to reduce the flow of Mississippi River water as it moves towards New Orleans.
Today, the Army Corps of Engineers plans to open 20 more bays of the Bonnet Carre Spillway, bringing the total number opened thus far to almost 50.
The agency plans to open 200 of the 350 bays by the end of March to divert waters from the rain-swollen river into Lake Pontchartrain.
