A pre-filed bill for Louisiana's upcoming legislative session is looking to rename part of the Gause Boulevard in Slidell to honor a fallen city police officer.
If it's approved, House Bill 79 would dedicate part of U.S. Highway 190 as "Officer Jason Seals Memorial Highway." Seals died in November from injuries suffered during an on-duty motorcycle crash that happened during a funeral escort.
The proposed stretch of roadway spans from Northshore Boulevard to U.S. Highway 11, near where the accident took place.
