Louisiana-Based Fire Crew Praised For Work In Houston-Area Chemical Fire

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards is heaping praise on Holden-based U.S. Fire Pump and its fire control specialists after their successful work in extinguishing a massive petrochemical blaze in Texas.

Edwards, in a news release issued yesterday, says the 20-person crew brought the fire under control within 24 hours of arriving on the scene at International Terminals Company in Deer Park near Houston.

Foam and water were sprayed onto multiple tanks containing chemical components that erupted one after the other until the last of the flames were knocked down Wednesday morning, three days after the fire first erupted.

No serious injuries were reported.
