Entergy is giving the New Orleans City Council an update on its plan to install smart meters around the city.
These meters provide a more timely and accurate reading on electricity and gas levels.
Yesterday, representatives from the company said so far they have installed 4,000 smart meters around New Orleans. The information on the smart meters is directly relayed to Entergy without anyone actually coming out to read the meters.
Homeowners are charged a one time service fee and then pay about $13 a month.
