Baton Rouge DA Likely Won't Prosecute Head Of State Democratic Party

State Senator Karen Carter Peterson is not expected to face further legal action after illegally entering L'Auberge Baton Rouge casino late last month.

Peterson, who also heads up the Louisiana Democratic Party, is an admitted addicted gambler and undergoing treatment for the disease. She was kicked out and hit with a summons after entering the casino even though she had voluntarily placed her name two years ago on a list of those banned from gambling sites in the state.

East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore says he'll decide how to handle Peterson's case in the coming weeks, though if prosecuted and convicted, she could face up to six months in jail.
