RTA Halting Controversial Proposal On Change To Canal Line

Polar Vortex Weather System Brings Artic Temperatures Across Wide Swath Of U.S.

The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority is halting controversial plans to change the Canal Street streetcar line.

After a meeting with the New Orleans Transportation Committee, the RTA has decided it's best to scratch the current plans and start over. Their next step will be to conduct a traffic study and do more public outreach before planning changes.

The controversial proposal looked to get rid of a large number of stops on the line and block traffic at multiple intersections.

RTA officials will meet with residents April 8th at Warren Easton High School.
