An investigation is underway into the late Wednesday night shooting of a Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputy.
A spokesman for the department says the incident occurred around 10:45 in the parking lot of an IHOP restaurant near the intersection of the Westbank Expressway and Terry Parkway.
The wounded deputy was being treated at University Medical Center in New Orleans and is expected to recover. A suspect was shot dead at the scene.
