Parking In Bike Lane To Prove Costlier In New Orleans

New Orleans is taking steps to improve safety after a number of high-profile deadly accidents in the city involving bicyclists.

One measure was approved by city council members yesterday that will increase the fine for parking in a bike lane more than seven-fold.

Instead of having to fork over $40, a first-time violation will cost $300, with subsequent offenses drawing a $500 fine.
