Hurricane experts at Colorado State University are predicting a slightly below-average Atlantic Hurricane Season.
They're calling for 13 named storms this year, with five becoming hurricanes. Of those, two could become major storms of Category 3 or stronger.
Researchers believe the Atlantic will feel the affects of a weak El Niño that recently developed in the tropical Pacific. Also, temperatures in the tropical Atlantic are slightly cooler than normal right now.
The report gives a 28% chance a major hurricane will make landfall along the Gulf Coast.
Hurricane season begins on June first.
