Louisiana State Capitol

Members of the Louisiana House and Senate head back to work today as the legislature begins a 60-day session that'll be mainly focused on budget and tax issues.

There are hundreds of bills already in the hopper that were pre-filed for lawmakers to consider. They deal with a wide variety of topics ranging from abortions to sports betting.

Governor John Bel Edwards is hoping to push through his proposal for a $1,000 teacher pay raise.
