15 Fred's stores are closing up shop in Louisiana and liquidation sales are getting underway.
The Memphis-based retailer announced yesterday that the targeted stores, including at least one each in Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Shreveport, will cease operations around the end of next month.
In all, Fred's is shuttering 159 of its 557 stores located in 16 states. The company says those being closed are "underperforming and unprofitable."
