Termite Season Is Approaching

Damage caused by Termites (series)

LSU's Agricultural Center is warning Louisiana to prepare for swarms of termites.

According to experts, the peak swarming season is from May to June, with a particular spike around Mother's Day. When termites leave their colonies, they look for wood and moisture as a place to set up a new colony. They'll often swarm at dusk around lights.

If swarms of termites are seen around your home, a professional pest control company should be called out for an inspection just to be safe.

Homeowners can fend off potential damage by doing things such as avoiding wood mulch in landscapes and turning off outdoor lights.
