Louisiana is edging forward towards approval of a state law banning abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected.
That's usually about six weeks into a pregnancy.
One of the state senate's judiciary committees gave the bill five-to-two approval yesterday, though as amended it won't take effect until a similar law that's on hold in Mississippi wins federal court approval.
The Louisiana legislation is now headed to the full House for consideration.
