A significant change could be coming to Louisiana's medical marijuana program.

As it stands now, state law bans inhaling marijuana medicine. The Health and Welfare Committee of the Louisiana House gave approval yesterday to legislation that would permit certain patients to use medical marijuana inhalers.

The state's sickest patients may finally gain access to medical marijuana by the end of the month, but under current law only by dropper, which takes longer to enter the blood stream and take effect than inhaling it.
