FOX 8: Cantrell, Edwards Reach Deal To Help Fund Infrastructure Needs

(WVUE/FOX 8) Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards and New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced Monday that a deal has been reached between state, city and tourism officials to address draining infrastructure needs.

The deal gives $50 million in funding payable this year for the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans to help with ongoing drainage needs. It also provides an additional $17.5 million that will be used to provide cash flow over the next five years, according to the agreement.

An initial deal was reached on May 1, however they were delayed once amendments were made.
