Governor Declares This Is Hurricane Preparedness Week

Governor John Bel Edwards is declaring it hurricane preparedness week in the Pelican State.

The Governor's Office, along with Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, are urging residents to have a plan in place. Residents should make sure to have supplies on hand and tools or generators, and say everyone should be aware of where they're evacuating to in case of a hurricane.

They say it's also important to check the strength of trees on or around your property.

Experts predict 12 to 14 tropical storms, with two to four having potential to become major hurricanes.
