The drainage system in New Orleans is being outpaced by heavy rains.

Yesterday, over two inches of rain fell in less than an hour across the city. The Sewerage and Water Board said the drainage system had 115 out of 120 pumps available for use throughout the storm.

The agency noted that not all drainage pumps can work at the same time because it would overwhelm the canals.

Weather experts say this coming week will be a lot dryer than current conditions.
