The Governor of Louisiana is requesting federal assistance due to flooding in his state.

On Twitter Saturday, Governor John Bel Edwards requested an emergency declaration from President Trump in an effort to combat potential river flooding.

Edwards said rivers and waterways have been elevated for the past few months and the recent surge of rain is only making things worse.

The affects of the storms continue to be felt in the region as Memorial Day weekend comes to an end.
