New Orleans Police To Strictly Enforce Curfew Law

Officials with the New Orleans Police Department say they plan to strictly enforce the curfew ordinance beginning next Monday.

The NOPD said yesterday they would take a new approach to the curfew which has not been enforced as vigorously in the past decade.

In 2011 the city reported over 2,000 curfew detentions which then steadily decreased to less than 250 citations issued in 2018.

The curfew does not allow juveniles under the age of 17 to be on the streets after 9 p.m. on weekdays or after 11 p.m. on weekends and runs from June 1st to August 31st.
