A Mandeville man is going to prison for 35 years without parole after being convicted of shooting at police officers during a standoff.

Cory McDonald received his sentence last Friday after pleading guilty to multiple crimes including attempted first-degree murder.

McDonald is accused of attacking a woman and holding her inside a Mandeville home back in January.

She escaped and called police and McDonald was reportedly found armed and barricaded inside a small shed in the backyard.

Prosecutors say McDonald shot at police twice during the standoff.
