Sources in the music industry say New Orleans music icon Dr. John had recently finished a new album before his sudden death last week from a heart attack.
According to reports, Dr. John had finished the major parts of the project last December which included duets with other music superstars including Willie Nelson, Aaron Neville, and Rickie Lee Jones.
The album is said to mix new originals, covers of Johnny Cash and Hank Williams, plus reworked classics that were recorded at Dr. John's home and at Esplanade Studios in New Orleans.
Details on any work that may be left on the album or its future release date were not available.
