The city of Kenner is planning to turn Esplanade Mall into a mixed-use space.
That's the focus of the revitalization plan which was promoted by Mayor Ben Zahn.
Zahn says the changes include a gymnastics program, a recreation department and another future idea to fill the vacant Macy's department.
The plan is part of an effort to bring more foot traffic into the mall, which is filled with empty stores.
Other possibilities Zahn is considering include city government departments, interactive family activities and condos.
