Giant Bug Swarm Causes Problems For Drivers On Causeway Bridge

Causeway Bridge 3

A bug swarm over the weekend on the Causeway is being called one of the worst seen in the bridge's history.

According to reports, the insects that descended on the causeway on Saturday and Sunday were so thick, signs were put up offering water to drivers who did not have windshield wiper fluid.

Entomologists say the swarm was made up of a non-biting small type of fly called a midge which is found around bodies of water and eaten by frogs.

Officials say because of the spillway opening there may be swarms like this again on the causeway in the near future.
