Governor John Bel Edwards did not issue a single line-item veto when he signed the state budget yesterday.

That budget features more than $200 million as new education funding.

As part of that funding, more than 100,000 teachers will get a yearly pay raise along with other staff including lunch servers and janitors.

Local school districts and higher education will both get $40 million more.

The governor called it "the best budget for education in Louisiana in well over a decade."
