Algae blooms are forcing the closure of the St. Tammany Parish Fishing Pier and the Northshore Beach in Slidell.
St. Tammany Parish President Pat Brister said the closures will be in effect until further notice, and signs will be going up at both locations today.
People are urged to avoid contact with both the water and the algae itself and should avoid eating fish from the lake during the bloom.
The announcement comes right after the City of Mandeville announced the lakefront was closed because of the algae.
