The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's office says a 22-year-old woman sat on a toddler and broke his leg.
Johnae Carter allegedly failed to seek medical attention for her boyfriend's two-year-old son after she sat on him and snapped his thigh bone.
The injuries were not reported until two days later when the boy returned to his mother.
Carter says she was trying to stop the boy from grabbing another child's hair.
She faces a second-degree cruelty charge and is in custody on a $20,000 bond.
