Orleans Parish Hands Fraud Lawyer Case To State Attorney General

Gavel and scales of justice

The investigation into an Orleans Parish employee accused of fraud has been sent to the state Attorney General.

Officials confirmed yesterday that the criminal investigation against Ashley Crawford had been handed over the state's top law enforcement agency.

Crawford is accused of handling more than 100 cases as a public defender despite not having a license.

Crawford was fired earlier this week and could be facing up to two years in prison if found guilty.
